I was recently at a round table for investors in Israeli start up companies. There was one company which was already on its feet that serviced the business intelligence industry. The company’s name was Kela. Kela is the hebrew word for King David’s slingshot. Kela the company looks to model the slingshot’s accuracy in the business intelligence field. The representative for the company made a statement that I thought summed up the entire business. He said that “business intelligence is about people”. I couldn’t agree more. The Israeli approach to security has always involved the human factor. He said that his approach to deciphering business intelligence involved the creativity of people and not machines. This is a great lesson for all businesses. Business is obviously about making a profit but it is driven by people. Many times those people can be mishandled or not given the opportunity to reach their full potential as workers. Based on my experience a business that gives people the freedom and right type of training to reach their potential will be a much better business than a business that doesn’t treat them that way.
